Team H.A.M. OPEN SERIES: Week 1 Recap

Week 1 of the 2016 Team H.A.M. Open Series is in the books!

Man that was freaking incredible.

EVERY single member of the Forged Family who participated dug deep, pushed their limits, and most importantly got better.

When we first announced that we would be hosting an event around the 2016 Crossfit Open there was a lot of doubt in peoples’ minds.

Similar to the Hero Challenge, people were telling us things such as, “I could never do those workouts!” and, “That’s only for people who are already in amazing shape.”

Well, this last Friday proved all of that WRONG.

This event is all about COMMUNITY and helping each other lead a healthy and STRONG life.

The support and accountability that community brings is unparalleled, and here at Forged we just happen to have the greatest community of athletes on the planet.

That’s fact, not just opinion.

This really showed on Friday night.

The Crossfit Open workouts are designed to make you push yourself to a place you don’t often go, and go through ‘pain’ you’ve never gone through before

Workout 16.1 accomplished both of these things.

The workout went as such…

Week 1 was presented by our awesome sponsor WODFitters.

These guys sell all the essentials to support your badass fitness regimen.

We also had Eat Fit Go in the house serving up delicious, healthy, ready-to-be-eaten meals.

Steskal Chiropractic was there too, giving out massages and teaching our athletes how to take care of their bodies properly.

Brute Force Sandbags, FitAid, WODLabs, and Forever Fierce couldn’t be there in person, but they were with us in spirit.

HUGE thank you to all of our incredible sponsors.

None of this would have been possible without their help.

As far of the overall challenge goes, the Friday Night H.A.M. Session is only just a small part of the overall picture.

We split the participants into four teams.

Individuals earn points for their team through weekly challenges involving different aspects of overall fitness.

The teams have been coming up with some pretty cool ideas for the rest of the Open Series.

Some teams are making shirts and setting up extra group cardio sessions outside of the gym.

EXCITED to see what everyone comes up with as the series continues.

It’s ONLY just begun…

There are so many highlights from the actual workout on Friday that we couldn’t possibly list them all out here.

The whole thing was just flat out inspiring.

From Mike J. gutting it out through Elite Division to Michelle Z overcoming her fear of working out with everyone watching, too many inspiring events to mention.

In the end, this event isn’t about the score; it’s about pushing yourself harder than you normally would and blasting through your perceived “limitations”.

Going “20x”.

It’s about telling that voice inside of your head to “F-Off” and push that extra bit 10%.

We’re so freaking PUMPED that we get to have four more weeks of this ‘madness’.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this.

You’re the reason we do what we do.

Here’s to another week of kicking ass in and out of the gym!
