Warrior Of The Week – Nicole Heim

This week’s WARRIOR of the WEEK is a great one!

Back at the start of November we had a little contest inside of the gym called, The “Skin in the Game Challenge”.

We had this to help people stay on track and focused during one of the toughest month’s of the year in regards to nutrition and accountability.

People are so easy to make excuses because of Thanksgiving and all of the hustle-bustle it brings with it.

So instead of let people drop off track, we had a challenge to see who could stay accountable, consistent, and target even during Thanksgiving.

After a very close vote-off, a winner was decided.

Nicole was the WINNER…

To get to know Nicole a bit better we caught up with a in-depth Q and A where she let’s us in on some of her favorite things and successes.

Q – Nicole, if you were to have on of those bus bench billboards that could say anything, what would it say and why?

“You were made for more. Take a risk!”  I think way too many people settle in life instead of dreaming big and taking chances.  Failure just means you’re one step closer to your next win.

Q – What have you loved about Forged thus far?

I love the amazing community of people!  Everyone is always cheering each other on to do their best.

Q – What do you do to stay so consistent with the gym and your training?

I try to make it a priority as much as possible to make it into the Forged classes, and to also get in some extra workouts throughout the week.  I remind myself that I am doing this for myself, to be the best I can be!

Q – What does training mean to you besides all of the benefits of being leaner, stronger, and more athletic?

Besides being leaner, stronger, and more athletic, training is also a stress reliever for me!  I look forward to getting into the gym and moving some heavy weights.  It’s also just a way to stay healthy and have a better life because of it!

Q – You’ve made some BIG strides inside Forged since you’ve started a while back, can you share with us some of the success you’ve experienced?

Some of the most fun successes for me have been doing things I’ve never done before!  Lifting the boulders from ground to shoulder the first time was really fun – you feel pretty hardcore doing that! 🙂  I’ve also been happy with learning a more efficient way to rope climb, and I’m starting to get my strict pull-ups back!

Q – Everyone’s 1st day inside Forged is a bit “interesting”…  Can you share with us YOUR experience from your first day within Forged (if you can remember that far back!)?

I was nervous to start a new gym with a new coach and new people, but everyone was very welcoming from the start!  I remember the very first day I did something I’d never done before, which was the sandbag power cleans.  I loved trying something new from the very start!  I remember being really sore after that first workout!

Honestly, I’m a pretty calm, even-keel person.  One thing that does get me really excited is helping other people reach their potential.  I love cheering others on and encouraging them to be the best they can be!

Q – Up till now, what has your FAVORITE most memorable moment been inside the gym thus far?

My favorite moment inside the gym thus far was the Halloween morning costume team workout.  It was fun to see everyone’s creative costumes and to compete as teams!

Favorite Movie Character and Why?

Not a big movie person.  I’ll say Buddy the Elf 🙂  Because he’s hilarious!

Favorite song that you’d want blaring on the speakers to help you hit a 1RM?

Down With The Sickness, haha.  That song has always gotten me pumped up and it’s a good throwback!

Whats you FAVORITE cheat meal?

Pizza from HyVee.  Thin crust pepperoni.  I haven’t had it in forever though!

Your FAVORITE movement in the gym is?

Deadlift.  Front squats a close second.

Your LEAST favorite movement in the gym?

Snatch.  Only because it is my weakness!

FINALLY…  If there was one piece of advice you could give someone else for more success whether that be in the gym, in life, business, whatever, what would that be?
 
Believe in yourself!  If you don’t believe in yourself yet, find someone who does.  Let their excitement and belief fuel you forward until you do believe you can do whatever you’ve set your heart on doing.
